The inaugural Race, Rock ‘n’ Ride event at Santa Pod Raceway has received rave reviews from traders and visitors alike. The track action was fast and furious, with all manner of two-wheeled machinery taking to the quarter mile strip, from top-of-the-range sportsbikes to home-built classics.

“Race, Rock ‘n’ Ride was brilliant, fantastic, deafeningly good fun!” said sponsor Principal Insurance’s marketing manager Matt Byrne. “Not even the biblical rain that hit Santa Pod on Saturday could dampen enthusiasm, with the feedback from show-goers being really positive. It’s hard to single out one of so many highlights but the Run What Ya Brung was clearly a massive hit which attracted some awesome bikes. Race, Rock ‘n’ Ride has proven a most welcome addition to the biking calendar and we at Principal Insurance are both proud and delighted to have supported this immensely successful first year show.”

In addition to the fantastic variety of bikes on track at the show last weekend, the crowds saw an equally diverse mixture in the popular GP Paddock and Retro Zone. This was in addition to multiple world trials champion Steve Colley, who brought his travelling trials bike show along and kept the crowds mesmerised throughout the weekend. It was a similar story in the stunt arena for the British Stunt Championships, where the crew were putting their sportsbikes through their paces with an array of wheelies, stoppies, burnouts and drifting to name just a few of the eye opening displays on offer over the two days.
The weekend, supported by Mortons Media Group, was topped off for those lucky enough to be camping when Europe’s leading AC/DC tribute band, Live/Wire, played a high-voltage, two-hour set of in-your-face, undiluted rock, at the raceway’s Fuelers Bar, much to the delight of the cheering crowds.

Both Santa Pod Raceway and Mortons Media Group are now looking ahead to next year’s event and to seeing how they can build on the success of such a great weekend.
